Further research is required relative to Kansas Lee, apparently born in Maryland suggesting that Aggie Lee, if her mother, was either freed before or after Martha Washington's death in 1802; and born free. Aggie was likely among the dowry slaves sent away by Bushrod Washington. Relationship is confirmed by the fact that Nancy Banister Lee named one of her daughters after a beloved Aunt "Kansas."
