| William B. Lowry was an American born and raised son of an immigrant, and the revolutionary war great-grandfather of Lee Lowry. William was paid in 1778 by the Virginia legislature for serving in the Continental Army and we assume was entitled to a military land warrant later issued by the Congress to pay veterans via land grants rather than cash.
