Mary Lee Brady, Ph.D.

Pearl a lee below left was the mother of Bass Reeves and according to Judge Paul Brady, her mother was named Lucy Totty whose maiden name may have been Lucy Lee a free colored woman in Virginia who migrated to North Carolina around 1810 as the wife of William Totty.  

Our speculation is that Pearlalee may have been a derived name from her mother's maiden name of Lucy Lee a offspring of William or Frank Lee at Mount Vernon.  And, a possibility exists that Pearlalee was
